This booklet is a form of campaign for our Interdisciplinary Unit (IDU) project, with the

general topic ‘Technology and Healthy Lifestyle’, and specifically in this booklet:

smoking.

It is common knowledge that cigarettes are bad for our health. Now that technology is more

advanced, there are mixed effects it gives to our life:

It can be negative >> more advanced manufacturing process

and communication technology, leading to

faster production, distribution and

advertisement.

It can be positive >> detecting what diseases we have and the

right medical treatment to cure us.

In this booklet you will find more information about smoking and technology.

Cigarette manufacturing is one of the many examples how technology can

be misused for things that gives bad effect to our health. Factories may

benefit from this due to the faster process, but to us this is deadly.

DEADLY ADVERTISEMENT DON’T LET THESE INFLUENCE YOU

Seiring dengan berkembangnya teknologi, orang mulai

menggunakan banyak media lain seperti televisi, internet,

komputer, laptop, media sosial, dll. Dengan ini berarti lebih

banyak orang akan melihat iklan yang buruk

IN THE PAST..

Advertisements are frontally displaying the cigarette and smokers smoking. They even write words such as:

“Put a SMILE in your SMOKING!”

“Ready to try a great, fresh taste?”

“Best thing ever happened to filter smoking!”

Etc.

Technology is not that advanced and developed

yet, so people had to rely on words from mouth

to mouth as well as radios and posters to

advertise cigarette.

NOWADAYS!!!! We should be especially careful with these types of advertising since the message are usually hidden behind words

and pictures entirely unrelated to cigarette and smoking. New regulations forbid featuring people who smoke and

encouraging words for smoking. So now people are getting smarter and creative in playing with words and

constructing hidden messages in an advertisement. So, we must be aware!!!!!!

As technology develops, people start to make use of many

other medias such as television, internet, computer, laptop,

social media, etc. This means more people will see the

advertisement, which is bad

full load of oxygen

Tar Contains many toxins harmful for body. Thick and sticky so it sticks to the lungs

and causes infection.

Carcinogen Cancer-causing agents, damage important genes that control the growth of cells,

causing them to grow abnormally or reproduce too rapidly

C+I+G+A+R+E+T+T+E = ? The chemicals and its effects

HOW CIGARETTE RUINS YOUR LIFE Some facts about smoking and you:

People who start smoking before the age of 21 have the hardest time quitting.

About 30% of youth smokers will continue smoking and die early from a smoking-related disease.

Teen smokers are more likely to use alcohol and illegal drugs.

They are more likely to have panic attacks, anxiety disorders and depression.

Irrational decisions

Immature behavior

Social rejection

Smoking is NOT cool.

If you don’t smoke

you are NOT lame.

By 2030, the number of deaths caused by smoking will

increase to more than 8 million.

It is predicted that by the end of the 21st

century, tobacco will kill one billion

people.

Why?

From year to year, the number of smokers in the world always

increases. IF YOU DON’T WANT THIS TO HAPPEN THEN STOP

SMOKING ANG STAY AWAY FROM CIGARETTES.

DISEASE DETECTION

SICK

OR

NOT?

Spirometry – a simple

breathing test

measures how fast and how much air we

can blow out from our lungs. We can

directly see if there is anything wrong

from the result.

MRI (magnetic resonance

imaging)

used to evaluate the possibility of

lung cancer. This procedure uses

magnetism and does not involve

radiation.

Chest X-ray

shows mass in the lungs. If the chest x-

ray result is normal, further tests are still

needed to look for a suspected lung

cancer.

CT Scan (computerized

tomography)

CT scan is the second step either to

follow up on an abnormal chest x-ray

finding, or to evaluate troublesome

symptoms in those with a normal chest

x-ray.

Detection is needed to determine what

disease we have in order to treat it

quickly!

CAN ADDICTION BE CURED? YES OF COURSE.

Technology will take

care of that.

Ear Therapy Ear Therapy is a therapy which

stimulates nerve centers in the

brain without the use of drugs. It

delivers micro-currents to

points on the ear which helps

generate "feel good" chemicals

in the brain.

Laser Therapy Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT)

helps people overcome their

addiction to nicotine. It works by

applying pressure to a specific

combination of points on the

body related to nicotine

addiction.

iCoach iCoach is a free access digital health coaching

platform. Focuses on those unwilling to quit.

OVER FRESH!!!!!!!!! Besides controlling our

respiration, exercise could

also be a distraction from bad

habit of smoking.

Static Bicycle The exercise bike

allows us to work our

legs and

cardiovascular

system without

putting stress on our

knees. As a smoker

the benefit from the

bike as it really helps

the smoker to train

our respiratory

system.

Treadmill On a treadmill, we

can walk or run

while staying in the

same place. This

will help us control

our respiratory

even when we don’t

have time to go

outside.
