Biography of DirectingYash Chopra was born on September 27, 1932 in Lahore, Punjab. He began as an assistant director to I.S. Johar before working with his elder brother, B.R Chopra. He was given his first ever directorial opportunity in 1959, his movie “Dhool ka Phool” was a major success. Encouraged by that success, the Chopra brothers made a few more movies together. In 1973, the brothers separated and Yash Chopra founded his studio, “Yash Raj Films.” There he made his first ever movie, “Daag: A Poem of Love.” After that movie, Yash Chopra made many more hit films.

Directing Life Yash Chopra made many blockbuster hits! Chandni (1989), Dil to Pagal Hai (1997), Dilwale Dulhania le Jayenge (1995) and Veer Zaara (2004) are fantastic examples of hit movies. He has won 5 National film Awards, 11 Filmfare awards, Legion of Honour and many other awards.

Contributions Yash Chopra has made many contributions to Indian cinema. He has created a whole new glossy of cinema. It includes movies that have great music and sentimental love stories. He has changed the perception of Indian film industry by successfully transforming the way films are made. Not only is he an accomplished director, but he has also achieved worldwide fame.

Interesting Facts● Yash Chopra married Pamela Chopra in 1970. ● He had 2 children named Aditya Chopra and Udhay Chopra. Both of them

work in the film industry. ● His favourite shooting spot was a lake in Switzerland. The lake was

unofficially renamed Chopra lake● Yash Chopra died on October 21, 2012
