DESCRIPTION

This project is realised with the help of GetItDone.org. Which is a crowdfunding platform. Without the help of the anonymus donators we could not have realised this pilot project in Matsangoni trade centre, Kilifi county. Foundation Pamoja Kenia now officially works with the government of Kilifi county. To realise another Flush Shower and Go project, the foundation needs € 7000,-. Foundation Pamoja Kenia has the ambition to realise approximately 6 of these projects, for the benefit of the people/community in Matsangoni. And at the same time foundation Pamoja Kenia will look further for already existing ‘public’ toilets and she will try to upgrade them to the standards of the rules of the foundation.

Starting building the toilet and showerOn a hot market day in February 2013 the official start was a fact.

In two days the basis/funding was realizedThe community was very proud that they could help, have a job and be a

part of the building of this pilot project.

Philip himself was eager to helpThe community where surprised that this project was being done and

realized.

The funding was establishedThe people work very hard to get this project done and we could help

10/20 families with doing this project.

HalfwayThe recycling of the roof is been done.

The building was halfway finishedMaterials where recycled with the old public toilet building, which where out of use and where the septic was build under the toilet building. We

used the septic tank for the new building, we used parts of the roof, windows and doors for the new building. It is a very nice way of working

with recycled materials. You teach the people how they can use this.

A community working togetherAs you can see, people have a job, so they can eat. Foundation Pamoja Kenia wants to stimulate the people to work and is eager to start with new projects like this in

Matsangoni. And she wants to extends these projects throughout whole of Matsangoni in Kilifi county.

The lady who got a new storage room for her business

This lady, who thrives a small food business, was given a new place by the government to put her materials in for her small business. She was

very happy and went on with her business (cooking potatoes) in the middle of the dust.

Only the doors had to be put inThe building is almost finished and the doors have to be put in so people

can’t break in. The doors will be locked and one lady will maintain the building and she gets paid. The project is a commercial project and Philip Kahindi is the supervisor. He also receives a percentage of this project to

cover his travel, lodging and food expenses.

The door with the lock is doneFor safety reasons the doors have been put in with a lock so people can’t

break in.
