MATTHEW-CRAIG EDWARDS

MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

• Being elected as Student Body Secretary• Having no prior experience• Questioning my

competence

MY SOLUTION

Access

Excel

• Using Access and Excel• To perform my duties

efficiently• To quickly understand how the

ASCI Senate functions.• To create a model that can

help future ASCI Secretaries perform efficiently.

MY DATABASE• A multifaceted database aimed at

making my duties less taxing.

ROLL CALL• It takes approximately

2 minutes to perform Roll Call.

• Attendance status is recorded via lookup fields.

• Data integrity enabled to keep the data consistent.

ORDERS/BILLS/RESOLUTIONS

• Each senator has to vote.• I record their individual

votes (Aye, Nae, Abstain)• I record unanimous votes

(Passed, Struck)• Votes are recorded via

lookup fields• Data integrity enabled to

keep the data consistent.

RELATIONSHIPS

• Several relationships due to the many lookup fields created.

QUERIES

• What is the attendance status of all Hayman senators during September?• Who are the Off-Campus senators with excused absences in

October?• Who are the Simplot senators present in October?

REPORTS

• My data allows me to create reports on each senator’s attendance.• If there is a lack of attendance, the senator loses his/her seat

in the ASCI Senate.

MY SPREADSHEET• Focuses on the funds

requested from the senate orders recorded in my database.

• Shows how much the allocated funds affect the senate’s budget.

ANALYSIS OF DATA

BENEFITS OF MY SPREADSHEET

• This spreadsheet allows me to monitor the ASCI senate’s finances in a concise and efficient way. It provides:• The percentage of the senate’s current budget that will be used to

fund an order.• The senate’s remaining budget after each allocation.• Analysis of the funds requested in the orders.• Analysis the funds allocated from the ASCI senate’s budget.
