Visual Text Comprehension (MCQ)

-Assesses Reading Comprehension which will require candidates to apply viewing skills

-visual materials used for candidates (e.g. flyer, web page)

- 1 A3 page or 2 A4 pages (change)

Sentence Manipulation (Synthesis & Transformation)

- Pupils would have learnt these connectors from the previous years. Pupils will also advance from synthesizing to transforming the words in P5.

P5 (Std) Oral

Reading Aloud (10 marks instead of 6 marks)

Stimulus-Based Conversation (20 marks instead of 10 marks)

-Given a stimulus and pupils need to express themselves clearly & effectively during a conversation

-Stimulus is a springboard for conversation

E.g. Pupils can use experiences they have encountered to engage the examiners.

Stimulus-Based Conversation

Example:

1) Look at the picture, would you buy this carton of milk? Why/Why not?

2) What kinds of beverages do you enjoy drinking?

3) If given a choice, what kinds of beverages would you recommend to your friends?

New to P5 Assessment

Situational Writing (15 marks)

- Understanding of context (6 marks)

- Organization & Language Use (9 marks) Tenses, sentence structures etc…

Composition

-Word count 150 words

-Given 3 pictures (not in sequence)

-Specific instructions to write a story

-Writing can be based on 1, 2 or all of the pictures

-Guiding questions will be provided

Composition (40 marks instead of 20)

-Developing of ideas & interesting pieces of writing (20 marks)

-Organization & Language Use (20 marks)

Tenses, Sentence Structures, Punctuation etc…

Comprehension (20 marks)

- 1 passage

- Testing a variety of items such as MCQ, Open-ended, sequencing …

- More questions as compared to P4 (can be up to 10 questions with each question carrying up to 3/4 marks).
