contents
The Bengal Tiger is the national animal of both, India and Bangladesh.
The tiger’s coat is yellow to light orange, with stripes ranging from dark brown to black.
The number of tigers has reduced dramatically in the past few years, due to poaching and human-tiger conflict.
By 2011 , these counted 2500
1.BENGAL TIGER
Asiatic Lion aka the Indian Lion or Persian Lion is a lion subspecies which is endangered.
Can be spotted at: Gir Forest National Park, Gujarat.
These counted 523 in Gir forest
2. ASIATIC LION
The snow leopard is a large cat native to the mountain ranges in Central and South Asia.
Snow leopards have long, thick fur, and their base color varies from smoky gray to yellowish tan, with whitish under parts. Can be spotted at: Hemis National Park, Ladakh, Nanda Devi National Park, Uttarakhand etc.
These counted 200- 600
3.SNOW LEOPARD
• The Blackbuck is an ungulate species of antelope and it is near threatened.
• The main threat to this species is poaching, predation, habitat destruction, overgrazing, inbreeding and sanctuary visitors. Can be spotted at: Guindy National park, Tamil Nadu, Rollapadu, Andhra Pradesh, Chilka, Orissa.
4.BLACK BUCK
Red Panda is also known as lesser panda or red cat-bear.
Red Panda’s population is on a decrease given to habitat loss and fragmentation, poaching, and inbreeding depression.
Can be spotted at: Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh etc
40% decrease in red pandas is recorded in india in the last 50 years
5.RED PANDA
Why should we save
them• Wildlife in India• As per the survey India is a home to about 60-70%
of the total biodiversity found across the world and about 33% of plant species are endemic.
• There are 172, or 2.9%, of IUCN-designated threatened species in India. Under this comes the Asiatic Lion, Bengal Tiger.
• This enforces the need of right wildlife conservation.• In nature every species is interdependent on each
other. For example extinction of Dodo bird leads to the extinction of Major calvaria tree. Which means that humans extinct when the flora and fauna extincts
How can we save
them• Every one should be made aware about
the animals and how to conserve them.• Puppets shows, road shows, flash mobs
are to be performed to increase awareness• Avoid buying products that are made out
of animals• Declaring the endangered species as the
state symbols• Establishing of National Parks ,Wild life
sanctuaries, Zoos at the places where the extinction is at rapid phase
