or the like, for or as for the purpose of taking off impressions or prints

of the design so formed

MATERIALS OF THE ENGRAVING

THE LINOLEUM

Linoleum :

coating burlap or canvas

with linseed oil, powdered cork, and rosin,

using sometimes for engraving

. TECHNIQUE OF LINOLEUM

LINOLEUM ENGRAVING, also

called LINOCUT is a printmaking technique.

A design is cut into the linoleum surface with a

sharp knife, u-gouge, with the raised uncarved

areas representing a reversal (mirror image) of

the parts to show printed. The linoleum sheet

is inked with a roller (called a brayer), and

then impressed onto paper .The actual printing

can be done by hand or with a press.

Vocabulary:

To carve: tallar, esculpir, grabar.
