Mission Focus for July and August Do you have your loose change ready for our upcoming NOISY OFFERINGS? We will take up a pots and pan offering on July 19 and again on August 16.

Mark your calendars now and start saving your change!

The Blessings in a Backpack program, from National down to the local level, is 100% volunteers. Volunteers fill qualifying student's backpacks with non-perishable food items and distribute them on Fridays. Backpacks are re-turned on Monday and refilled for the following Friday. Each backpack con-tains several pounds of food such as tuna, peanut butter, macaroni and cheese, pasta, oatmeal, fruit bars, soup, applesauce and fruit juices.

Research shows that healthy, well-nourished children learn better, are more likely to attend school and are able to take advantage of educational oppor-tunities. Studies demonstrate:

• increased test scores • improved attendance

Blessing in a Backpack is able to purchase food at a reduced rate. One week-end of food costs approximately $2.50. Any amount you give – whether it be loose change or a soft offering (check or bills) will see that a child right here in our community doesn't go hungry over the weekend. Soft offering can be placed in a pew offering envelope marked, “Blessings in a Backpack.”

A donation of just $100 will provide a backpack and food to one child each weekend for an entire school year.

Hunger doesn't take a break on the weekend. Will you join us in this com-passionate outreach to children in our neighborhood?

• reduced behavior issues • greater attention span
