Objectives:

To study the efficiency and

effectiveness of conversion of an

additional PHC to an upgraded

PHC.

Introduction: The Morappur Panchayat union

dispensary was started in the year 1978 in a small house near the Morappur bus stand and was named as primary health centre in 1981.

In 1985, a new building was constructed and it started functioning as an additional primary health center with 6 sub centers & 9 Village Panchayatscovering a population of 37,562 in and a round Morappur village.

This Additional PHC was converted

in to Upgraded PHC in the year 2005.

After the Up gradation and the

initiation of NRHM, the Infrastructure

and Services have increased dramatically in the Morappur PHC

As an additional PHC, the services

provided are very minimal.

The services provided were mainly

OP services, rarely IP with around 10

deliveries per month, minor emergencies

only during working hours.

Most of the people were dependent

on the private clinics or have to travel to Dharmapuri for their health needs.
