HowWeSupportDigitalLearningintheClassroom

CaringforyourStudent’sChromebook

AfteryourchildhascompletedtheirDigitalCitizenshiplearningmoduleinschoolandhasbeenallowedtotaketheirChromebookhome,weaskthatyouensurethatyourchildchargestheirdeviceeachnightbeforereturningtoschool.TheChromebookshouldbekeptinanenvironmentfreeofmoisture,anditshouldnothaveobjectsplacedontopofitwhenstored.

TheChromebook’sscreenmaybecomemarkedwithfingerprintsorothermatterfromtimetotime.Weencourageyoutocleanthescreenwithadry,non-abrasivefiber(e.g.,amicromeshcloth),asneeded.Ifresiduedriesonthescreen,pleasewipeitcleanusingaslightlydamp,non-abrasivecloth.Pleasedonotuseanyalcohol-basedsolventonthescreenasitwilldeterioratethecoatingsthathavealreadybeenappliedtothescreenbyLenovo.

Withanynewinitiative,therearerisks.Therefore,pleasebeadvisedthatparentshaveafewoptionspertainingtoliabilityfortheChromebook.

Parentsmaychooseto:

1)havetheirchildbringtheirschool-issueddeviceshome,andnotpurchaseanyadditionalinsurance;

2)havetheirchildbringtheirschool-issueddeviceshome,andpurchaseaninsurancepolicyfromthirdpartiessuchasWorthAveGrouporSquareTrade;or

3)optoutofallowingtheirchildtobringtheirdevicehome,withtheexpectationthattheyprovideaccesstoanInternet-enableddeviceathometocompleterequiredhomework.

ChromebookCare&Maintenance

• NeverleaveaChromebookunattendedincludingonthefloorwhereitcouldbesteppedon.

• Donot place food, liquids or other substances near theChromebook that could result indamage.

• DonotplaceheavyobjectsontopoftheChromebook.Thisisalsoimportantwhenplacinginalocker.

• NeverattempttorepairorreconfigureaChromebookoranyoftheperipherals.• Donotwrite,draw,stick,tape,oradhereanythingtotheChromebook.• DonotpersonalizethecaseorChromebookusingmarkers,stickers,etc. Identificationwill

beprovided.• Keep the Chromebook and other electronic storage media away from electromagnetic

fields.• Do not expose the Chromebook to direct sunlight, or prolonged extreme temperatures,

(e.g. leaving the Chromebook in a car during extreme hot or cold temperatures forextendedperiodsoftime).

• Donotplace theChromebookon surfaces suchaspaper, cardboard,or carpetwhile it isturnedon.

• DonotplaceanythingontopoftheChromebooknorleanorsitonitwhenitisclosed.• DonotplaceanythingintheChromebookbagthatmaypressagainstthecoverordamage

theChromebook.• Take care when inserting cords, cables and other removable storage devices to avoid

damagetotheChromebookports.• Cleanscreen,touchpad,andChromebookwithalightlydampsoftclothormicrofibercloth.

Chemicals,cleaners,orwetclothsarenotapprovedcleaningtools.• TheChromebookshouldbeturnedoffandunpluggedduringcleaning.

GPShasprioritizedalistof15-20PowerApplicationsforeachgradeband(elementary,middleandhighschool).Theseapplicationshavebeenprioritizedfordistrict-wideprofessionallearningandsupportbasedontheirdemonstratedpositiveimpactonteachingandlearningintheclassroom.Paidappsarestarredbelow.
