A “viewer” is anyone watching it
Broadcasting sessions quickly became known as “scopes”
Hearts are the currency viewers use to show approval for the scope or specific things said or shown

Competition Periscope saves your broadcasts, no matter how brief, for 24 hours, while Meerkat users are given the option to save streams to their phones, although they cannot browse a collated list of recent broadcasts
Periscope currently offers more features and a much wider selection of streams to dip in and out of, but competition will only truly kick off one both apps are extended to Android
The similarities to Twitter aren’t lost on Periscope’s co-founder, Kayvon Beykpour, who sold the company to Twitter earlier this year. “We think Periscope, if successful, will be a real-time pulse of what’s happening in the world,” he told my colleague Sarah Frier. “To me, that’s what Twitter is. When we realized the alignment of that vision, when we realized that Twitter’s intent was to acquire us, it made sense.”
