Unpleasant Circumstances
In our lives, we are often confronted with circumstances beyond our control.
Relationships turn sour, friendships may end, and our plans often fail. These
circumstances often catches us off guard, leaving us feeling bitter. However, bitterness is
contrary to God's attitude.

Bitterness is Unpleasant
Bitterness is “acrid”. Acrid describes a substance that is sharp, harsh, or
unpleasantly pungent in taste and odor. The intensity of feelings contained
within bitterness are often unbearable. This can lead to feelings of depression
and even suicide.

A Sweet Smelling Savor
As I read the definition of acrid, I was reminded of how the offerings presented
to God were of a sweet smelling savor Exodus 29:18. A sweet smelling savor is
pleasant, fragrant, soothing, and pleasing to the senses. To the contrary,
bitterness is a stench in God's nostril.
The Solution
The solution to bitterness is a change in attitude. This will take prayer and meditation on the
Word of God. Remember to always keep an attitude of thanksgiving no matter the circumstances.
Praise God during the good times as well as the bad. Thanksgiving moves the Hand of God.
After a while, your heart will be filled with joy and peace.
