What is Office 365 ?

– Office 365 is a subscription based online office and software services suite which offers access to various services and software built around the Microsoft Office platform.

– Provides staff, faculty and students with email, sites, online document editing, storage, IM and web conference services.

– Access Office 365 services from anywhere with an Internet connection, on any device.

– Enhanced communication and learning capability.

– Improved accessibility to email and other office applications

– Enhanced collaboration using Lync Online

– Reduced maintenance costs

– Consistent customer experience

– Maintaining an ongoing relationship with Alumni

– Aligns with Open to Talent strategic plan

– Building an integrated communication eco system

Scope of the Office 365 Rollout for UTAS

– Microsoft Office 365 to all enrolled students

– Email for life for current students and alumni

Microsoft Office 365 ( for Enrolled Students)

Includes :

– Outlook email (50GB quota)

– Outlook calendar

– Lync Online

– OneDrive online storage (25GB, soon to be 1TB)

– Office Online (MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, etc.)

Microsoft Office 365 ( for Enrolled Students)

Timing:

– Designed to minimise disruptions during semester and exam periods

– Avoiding other project go live dates e.g. SLIMS

– Staged migration between November 12th and December 10th

Microsoft Office 365 ( for Enrolled Students)

Migration:

– Existing email, calendar and contacts will be migrated to Office 365

– Current email address will be retained

– Information pack will be delivered

– Regular communication and marketing prior to the cutover to Office 365

Email for Life (for Current Students & Alumni)

The Email for Life service enables existing UTAS email address to be retained 'for life’.

Features :

– Outlook email, calendar and contacts

– Maintaining a relationship with the University

– Keep emails and contacts after University life

Microsoft Office 365 ( for Alumni)

Includes :

– Outlook email (50GB quota)

– Outlook calendar

Email for Life (for Current Students & Alumni)

Timing:

– From 1 September 2014 access to “email for life service”

– From 6th October 2014 access to old email system disabled

Migration:

– Existing email, calendar and contacts will be migrated to Office 365
