3. Pause for a moment and take a seat at the Temple ofFriendship to quietly absorb the world around you.Admire the vivid autumn colours as you look out atthe view across the lake and up to the Gothic Temple.

4. As you walk towards the gate for Lamport Garden stopto touch the prickly monkey puzzle trees.

5. Listen to the water as it trickles over Brown’s Cascade.

7. Close your eyes and touch the milestone, tracingthe engraved distances to places nearby. From hereyou look out over the parkland, the fi eld you can seewas once the site of the village of Lamport whichwas demolished in the 1840s as the Temple familyexpanded their deer park. Only the ridge and furrowlines are left visible today. Think about who lived herebefore and how they would have felt having to leavetheir homes. Nearby you can see the leftover bricksfrom the Lamport Manor stables.

Remember to wash your hands after exploring oursensory trail and touching all the diff erent textures.
