NIBCA 2017 Membership Committee AGENDA
Committee Purpose: The foundation of the Membership Team is to recruit and retain new members. This
committee organizes membership drives, new member orientations and supervise the
general membership meetings. They aid in membership retention and recruitment.
NIBCA Vision Statement: The NIBCA is dedicated to promoting the building industry for the benefit of
community members. The Association will continue to be an industry resource and
remain actively involved with area organizations to balance economic, environmental,
and legislative issues and to create a better understanding of the value and
importance of the building industry to the community

Minutes
1. The meeting began at 4:00 pm.
2. The minutes from the March 9th, 2017 meeting were reviewed and approved as written.
3. The committee felt that the March 3rd Tuesday Social Hour event went well. The NIBCA
gained one builder member from the event. The committee would like to have smaller social
events with current members as well, where only 1 person per company type is in
attendance with a maximum of 10 people. The committee would personally invite each
attendee to encourage them to socialize with other members and let the others know who
they are, what they do, and what kind of business they’re looking for. They would like to
consider alternating the 3rd Tuesday Social Hour with prospects with this new type of
meeting with current NIBCA members. The committee would like to consider offering 1 free
drink to prospects that attend the social hour and/or providing free appetizers in order to
give an incentive to attend.
4. The committee reviewed the dropped and prospect member lists. They would like the
spreadsheets emailed in order for them to refer back to when inviting people to the social
hour events.
5. The committee reviewed the April 2017 membership report.

6. The committee reviewed the current Meet the Board Orientation set-up and how it’s not
very successful right now. They would like to consider going back to the way they used to
do it during the social hour prior to the general membership meeting. There was another
idea to invite them to the joint BBQ event. They would like to invite them a half hour early
to socialize with the membership committee prior to the event.
7. Open Forum: The committee would like to continue looking into creating a gift basket for
a new member giveaway. They would like to start collecting gift cards, coupons, and
other giveaways now.
8. The next meeting dates are scheduled as follows. The committee would like to cancel the
meeting on the May 4th and move the May 16th meeting to May 23rd.
