HOT WEATHER
You may have seen the reports this week predicting extremely hot
weather this weekend.
Next week the forecast suggests temperatures averages of 20
degrees.
Please could you ensure that your child has a water bottle – we have
drinking fountains in school and will be encouraging students to keep
hydrated at all times.
Students should wear their normal school uniform to school and if temperatures do rise they will be
encouraged to remove blazers, jumpers and ties.
A number of useful publications have been produced over the years to advise people how to Beat the

EXAMS WEEK
I would like to commend students for their fantastic engagement in the whole school exams week.
Students have pro-actively participated in revision opportunities and taken sessions seriously. Our aim by
introducing these exam weeks, is to help students learn how to revise, and to practise the examination
process so that it can remove some of the anxieties associated with exams.
They have been an absolute credit to themselves and to the school. Well done!

MOBILE PHONES
In order to ensure clarity the following guidelines will be place for the use of mobile phones from
September 2019.
Mobile phones should be stored in a students bag, turned off, when on site. This applies to the whole
school day.
If a student needs to contact a parent ( for an issue related to the curriculum such as forgotten kit
etc), the SAFE team, HOYS or reception will accommodate this.
If a phone is taken out or seen on site it will be confiscated.
Parent/Guardian will be contacted to arrange collection.
We do understand that parents are reassured to know that their child has a phone to contact them whilst
travelling to and from school. However, we have made the decision to have a complete ban on the school
site for the following reasons:
Promote student wellbeing by removing some of the negative issues associated with social media;
Promote student wellbeing by removing the negative interactions which occur with staff in relation
to inappropraite use of phones which often escalate;
Promote student wellbeing by encouraging students to talk to each other;
Promote student wellbeing by removing yet another distraction in an already busy day for students.
We appreciate your support in helping us reinforce this by contacting the school reception if you need to
make contact with your child during the school day.
