Let me ask some QUESTIONS

Have you ever been to an SM establishment?

….and made a transaction that ended in .xx? (.25, .50, .75, etc)

….and paid in cash?

….and the cashier asked you if it was ok that they don’t give you the change because they don’t have it?

• Objective– Make as much money as possible from all

transactions ending in .50 or less.• Premise– Almost all customers wont argue if the cashier asks

them if it’s OK that they don’t receive their change.

• Implementation– Top management (head office) implements an

internal “Cost Savings Initiative” to offset “rising fuels costs.”

• Implementation (cont.)– SM Management to order cashiers not to give change

to totals ending in .50 or less.

– Top management will give SM establishment managers bonuses for proper implementation.

• Assumption– Managers nor cashiers will question the integrity of

the initiative because they want to avoid conflict.
