This lick is one of my favorites to use in a rock setting. You can see a video of me playing

this lick live with my rock band, MANCIE at www.bangthedrumschool.com/nasty-lick-33.

The fill is based on the following pattern: Right hand (R), Left hand (L), Bass Drum Foot (F).

For the duration that the RLF pattern is played, the right hand stays on the floor tom, while

the left hand remains on the snare drum. Playing RLF 8 times as 16th notes gets you to beat 3

of the second measure where you can play any two beat rhythm you like to get you to the end

of the second measure. I chose to play 16th notes on the snare in a recognizable rock style fill

so that the band would have an easier time knowing where the time was. Try this one out.....if

you play it with confidence and make sure that the balance between the hands and feet is even

(a common problem with these types of fills is that drummers play the bass drum too loud

relative to the notes played by the hands), you will make some heads turn! Enjoy. Cheers,

Mark Feldman
