Lillian Einrem SPRINGFIELD — The funeral

service for Lillian A. Einrem, 86of Springfield will be 1:30 p.m.Tuesday, August 7,2012 at the UnitedChurch of Christin Springfield, withburial in theSpringfield Ceme-tery.

Visitation willbe from 3 to 6Monday at theCrosby-Jaeger Fu-neral Home inSpringfield and resume Tuesdaymorning from 10 to noon.

Lillian Ameala Einrem, daugh-ter of Nick and Clara (Baxter)Wynia, was born January 14,1926 on a farm in the NorwegianHills at Springfield, SD. She diedFriday, August 3, 2012 at theGood Samaritan Society in Tyn-dall. Lil attained the age of 86years, six months and 21 days.

Lil attended Valley View Coun-try School through the eighthgrade and graduated fromSpringfield High School in 1945.She attended Southern Normalfor six months and earned herteaching certificate. She taughtat Valley View and Running WaterCountry Schools and substitutedat others.

Lil married Walter Einrem onDecember 28, 1946. Five childrenwere blessed to their union. Be-sides raising her own family, sheand Walt helped raise lots ofother children. Lil worked at Lil’sCafe and as a cook for manyyears at USD/S and the Mike Dur-fee Prison.

In 1991, Lil was bitten by aspider and then suffered a severestroke. She was a fighter andworked hard to not let this stopher. She loved life and lived it tothe fullest. Lil entered the GoodSamaritan Society in Tyndall onJune 6, 2012.

Lil will be remembered for herenjoyment of bowling and doingcrossword puzzles. She was anexcellent cook and had an amaz-ing ability for putting babiesdown to sleep.

her life are her husband Walter ofSpringfield; children: James ofVerdigree, NE; Jerry (died No-vember 5, 2002) and wife Debbieof Springfield; Jan Hammond ofSpringfield; Jeff and wife Nicoleof Tabor; and Jack and wifeSusan of Hastings, NE; 13 grand-children; 20 great grandchildren;brother, Donald (Betty) of Spring-field; sisters-in-law: MaryLou(Ray) Livingston of Yankton andMarcleen Wynia of Springfield;and many nieces, nephews andfriends.

Lillian was preceded in deathby her son Jerry; her parents;and brother Gerben Wynia.

Duane C. Rucktaeschel, son ofClarence and Evelyn (Pickett)Rucktaeschel, was born April 17,1938 at Wabasso, MN. He diedunexpectedly Friday, August 3,2012 at the Wagner CommunityMemorial Hospital in Wagner.Duane attained the age of 74years, three months and 18 days.

Duane attended grade schoolthrough the eighth grade atWabasso Public School and thenworked for area farmers. He mar-ried Evelyn Nelson on January12, 1957 at Milroy, MN. Threechildren were born to this union:Rocky, Roxan and Richie.

Duane worked many differentjobs in Minnesota, South Dakotaand Nebraska. From 2010 to thepresent, he was employed at the

Wagner Community School.Duane married Mary Ann

Seiner on August 11, 1989 at Tyn-dall. Two daughters were born tothis union: Kala and Kari. He waslooking so forward to walking hisdaughter Kala down the aislelater this month.

Duane was a member of theFirst Presbyterian Church, NorthAmerican Hunting Club and theNRA. He will be remembered forhis enjoyment of hunting, fishing,gardening vegetables and hisover-use of duct tape. He lovedspending time with his childrenand grandchildren. Every morn-ing he enjoyed having coffee andcookies with his dogs, Chloe andElla.

Yankton, SD passed away FridayAugust 3, 2012 at his home after18 months of fighting his battlewith leukemia. Steve was sur-rounded by his loving familywhen he passed from this life.

Steve wasborn August 1,1929 in Yankton,SD to Joseph andChristine (Sed-lacek) Vellek,which were immi-grants fromCzechoslovakia.Steve entered into the United

States Army in November of1948. He served in the KoreanWar receiving the Korean Serv-ice Medal with 3 bronze ServiceStars and was a member of the2nd Armored Division Hell onWheels. Steve was a proud life-time member of the Ernest-Bowyer VFW #791 and amember of the Kooties.

He married Christine Sielerof Yankton on January 8, 1952 atSacred Heart Catholic Churchand lived happily together for60 years.

Steve had many hobbies ofhis most enjoyable was his loveof gardening. He took greatpride in his yard and over theyears he received numerousYard of the Month awards. Hewas an avid fisherman and en-joyed many hours at the lake.Also he loved animals and was agreat horseman. Steve loved to

play pinochle with his partner,his grandson Aaron Cummins.He volunteered his time doingyard work at Sacred HeartCemetery.

Steve worked at Moore’sCandy as a delivery person, theFreeman Company, and SearsAutomotive Department. For 29years, Steve was a plant opera-tor for Northwestern PublicService.

Those who will cherish hismemory are his wife, Christineof Yankton, SD; two daughters:Nancy (Trent) Nelson of SiouxFalls, SD and MaryAnn (Patrick)Cummins of O’Fallon, IL; agrandson, Aaron Cummins ofO’Fallon, IL and a nephew, FrankVellek.

Friday night’s storm in Yanktonbrought powerful winds that causedsome property damage. This treecame down on this rental house inthe 700 block of Douglas Fridaynight, causing extensive damage tothe rear of the house. According tothe Yankton Fire Department, atleast six people were displaced asthe home was declared uninhabit-able due to structure damage. Atleast two occupants in the rear ofthe home narrowly escaped injurywhen the kitchen ceiling fell inaround them. The Red Cross wascalled in to assist the family. Quilts entered should not ex-ceed 70 inches in any directionand only up to two entries will beaccepted per person. Quilts, Wallhangings, miniatures, purses,wearables and anything else in

the quilting medium will be ac-cepted.

This year’s Quilt Show will bethe 14th Riverboat Days showheld at Four Seasons Fabric. Eachyear, hundreds of people takingpart in the Riverboat Days festivi-ties enter the store to view andvote for their favorite quilt. TheQuilt Show will be on Friday, Aug.

17, and Saturday, Aug. 18, duringnormal store hours.

The Healing Touch CertificateProgram is a multi-level course ofstudy in energy-based therapy,complementary to health careand endorsed by the AmericanHolistic Nurses’ Association. HTIHealing Touch courses are opento all persons with an interest inhealing. This includes registerednurses, physicians, body thera-pists, counselors, chaplains, psy-chotherapists, healthprofessionals and individuals de-siring an understanding and prac-tice of healing work using energy
