MITCHELLS ISLAND PUBLIC SCHOOL

Newsletter - Term 3, Week 5 2021

Message from the Principal:

Chocolate Fundraiser: Thank you to everyone that has been selling chocolate boxes. If you complete

one, please come and pick up another box to sell. We still have over 40 boxes left to go. Your help is

greatly appreciated.

Canteen: Thank you to Tayla (Asha’s mum) and Kirra (Alby’s mum) for volunteering in our canteen

yesterday. Emily does a great job as Canteen Manager, but it’s unrealistic to expect her to do every

canteen duty so more helpers are always welcome. The children love seeing someone from their family

in the canteen so if you, or someone from your family, are able to help out, please let us know.

COVID: We are all anxiously watching the news and waiting to see if Covid will hit our local area. Our

staff are prepared in the event of a snap lockdown and students will

be supplied with work to do. Initially, it will be workbooks for a 7 day

lockdown, however if it were to continue, we would then start

uploading to google classroom and conducting zoom meetings with

students. Please don’t be concerned; all instructions and help will be

given to families if this does happen. If you don’t have access to a

computer, we can continue with paper packs or possibly arrange for the loan of a laptop. In the

meantime, we will continue on at school, as normal.

Welcome Kindergarten 2022: Yesterday we

had our first kindergarten orientation and

welcomed Brody and Krystal to MIPS. They

had a great time.

At this stage, we have 3 kindy enrolments for

2022. If you know of any families that have

not yet enrolled their child, please ask them

to contact the school so they can join in the

orientation to prepare them for next year.

End of Year Play: We need Years 3-6 to return their scripts so we can begin rehearsals for the play.

We have moved the performance back to Term 4 in the hope that Covid restrictions will have eased.

Communication: I fully understand that everyone is concerned about Covid and the situation unfolding

with lockdowns throughout the state. Rest assured that I will communicate any news I receive and will

work with everyone to ensure our students are well supported. Likewise, if anything happens during

the school day that worries you, please speak to me directly. It is always best to contact the school

number first as Ms McCowan can take your message if I am teaching and I will return your call.

Sarah

This is my picture of the Olympic Rings. I chose

it because I like the colours and the people that

represented Australia at the Olympics.

We used oil pastels and it was fun to do.

This is my first year at MIPS and I love doing Art

with Miss Sneddon. Art is my favourite subject.

marcus

I love Art. I like all the colours. This one is called

Scribble Art. It’s like scribble but it has big spaces to

colour in.

I love classroom free time because it's fun and I get to

play on my laptop. I also like writing and publishing

my work.

Captain’s Corner: Everyone was excited this week when our Kindy 2022 kids came in for the day.

Brody and Krystal came along but unfortunately Mavis was sick. Hopefully she will be able to come next week.

The Kindys had a great first day at MIPS. Denver.

Celebrating 150 years of Quality Education

Thank you to the person that donated the League

Tags and belts to our school. The students have

been getting a great deal of enjoyment (and

exercise) out of them!
