Mezzanine floors enable the working height of a space to be utilised to its full potential by doubling or tripling the surface area. They can be designed as storage areas, changing rooms or offices, among other concepts. Installing a mezzanine floor is the best way of optimising available space. They can occupy the whole space or just the highest parts of the room.

Theinstallationconsistsoftworaisedfloors.Thegroundfloorhasbeenfittedwithshelvesforstoringmediumtosmallsizedgoodsandalargeramountofpickingoperations.Thetopfloorisusedtostorelargeorlessfrequentlyconsumedproducts.

Themezzanine,inthiscasewithseverallevels,isusedasaclassificationandstorageareaforhangingitemsofclothing.Thestructureitselfsupportstheelementsrequiredforthemovementoftheclothingtrolleys

Acommonapplicationistousethebottomareaasaworkororderpreparationzoneandthetoppartasofficesorisolatedworkareas,complementedbyaluminiumpartitionsandfalseceilingsforamoreagreeableworkingspace.

Inthebottompartofthemezzanine,bulkyproductsarestoredwhileshelvingforstoringsmallandmedium-sizedgoodshasbeenfittedinthetoppart.

Construction SystemsMecaluxhasseveralconstructionsystemsavailabletosuittheload,columnspan,andplannedutilityofthemezzaninefloor.ThemostcommonsystemsaretheGL2000,madeofhot-rolledsteelsections,standardIPNorIPEsections,ortheSIGMAsystem.GL 2000 SystemThisisidealforlargespansandmediumtoheavyloads.

Thesecondarybeamsareembeddedintheprimarybeamsandarejoinedtogetherbybracketsboltedtothebeamcores.

ThecolumnsaremadeofHEAbeams.Holesaredrilledintothebeamflangessothatthebeamscanbeheldinplaceusinglateralbrackets.

Thisconstructionsystemenablesvariousfloorstobeinstalledoneontopofanother.

SIGMAsectionshavecoreperforationsthatare65mmindiametertoallowforelectriccablesandfiresprinklerpipestopenetrate.

Themanydrillholesonthebeamsthemselvesallowforvariouscomponents,suchaselectricrails,overheadconveyors,auxiliarystructures,workaccessories,etc.,tobefastenedtothemsimplyandeasily.Thesetypesofinstallationsmustbeconsideredintheinitialdesigncalculations.

Metal FlooringMetalflooringhasahighload-bearingcapacityandcomesinavarietyofgroovedorperforatedmodels,dependingontherequirementsforventilationandwatersupplyinfire-fightingsystems.

Mezzanine with Concrete Panel FlooringWhenamezzaninehastowithstandheavyloadsandhaveahighleveloffire-resistance,itcanbemadebycombiningthemetalstructurewithprefabricatedconcretepanels,coveredwithalayerofsmoothmortar.

ThemetalstructureoftheGL2000canbecoatedagainstfireusingfireproofpaintormortarindifferentthicknesses,accordingthedegreeoffireresistancethatisrequired.

RailingsTheprotectiverailingsconsistofroundandrectangulartubesjoinedtogetherbyflangedattachments.Protectivekickboardsarefittedaroundthebottomtopreventobjectsfallingoffthemezzanine.

Railingsonhighfloorsareconnectedtobanistersbymeansofjointswhichpermitelementstobeattachedfromvaryingangles.Thebanistercomponentshavesimilarcharacteristicstotherailings.

StaircasesThestairsdevelopedbyMecaluxareeasytoinstall,sturdyandadaptabletodifferentheights(thesamestaircasecanbeusedfordifferentheightsbyadjustingtheangleofincline).TheyalsomeetallcurrentEuropeanbuildingstandards.

Staircasesof8,10,12,or15stepscanbeinstalled,dependingonthedistancebetweenthegroundfloorandthemezzaninefloor.Extraflightsofstairsarerequiredforstaircasesover15steps.
