THE PATRIOT Fourth Degree Ph. (217) 422-2624
Very Reverend Jeremiah J. Murphy Assembly 211 NEWSLETTER
October, 2012 www.KCassembly211.org Daniel M. Ashenfelter Faithful Navigator
P.F.N Steve Bowman - Publisher
Faithful Navigator’s Message My Brother Knights,
The Family picnic was a great success. The weather
was good and the company was unmatched. Thank you
to all who came and brought food and a good time with
them.
We had a pretty good turnout at St Thomas for Family
Mass. The meal at Benny’s was a great success. I think
we had faster service than we have ever had, the food
was very good. I am sure the social at Clarks was also
great.
Our next meeting will be at the farm at 6:00PM, a
short meeting then the wiener roast.
Our meeting room is a project in progress. Thanks to a
lot of you the paneling has a Kills type under coat and a
top coat of a good grade of paint. Steve Bowman is in
the process of painting the ceiling. The new lights have
been donated and will be put in once the ceiling is done.
Butch Gilbert is going to work on the switches and
determine if the two rheostats are attached to anything.
New switch plates will complete the look. We are
looking to see if we can find a deal on carpet. I thank
each and every one of you who are helping to make our
meeting room a nice and healthy place to meet.
Please mark your calendars.
December 19th
is our regular meeting for December;
we will start at 6:00PM. We will then have our
Christmas Party at the club; salad will be laid out at
7:00PM. The party is for all Knights and their ladies,
plus the Ladies Aux. The menu will be discussed later;
cost will be $14.00 per head. Kay Klinker is running the
gift game we have had in the past. If you want to join,
bring a $10 wrapped gift.
Just a reminder that on Oct 17th there will be a short
business meeting and the annual wiener roast at the KC
Farm. See you there.
Vivat Jesus!

Deacon’s Message
“What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother
or sister has nothing to wear and has no food for the day, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, keep warm, and eat
well,” but you do not give them the necessities of the body, what good is it? So also faith of itself, if it does not have
works, is dead.”
It is important that we have faith and believe in the Blessed Trinity but what is more important is what we do with that
faith and that “do” is to love and care for one another; To fulfill the ministry of Jesus.
What do we need to do in order to truly know Christ Jesus?
Above all, we must be open. Far too many people attempt to live Christianity based upon their own terms. They do not
come to the Lord with open minds and hearts. Far too many remove pages from the Scriptures and reduce Christianity to
their own comfort level.
When we are completely open, the Holy Spirit floods our souls with his loving and peaceful presence. He cannot enter
locked doors. God respects our freedom. Only the open can believe and see.
Knowledge automatically brings us to love. We only love that which we know. Our love for the Lord must be authentic
and real. Love brings about transformation. The goal of discipleship is to die to self so that the Lord may live within us.
In Mark’s gospel Jesus tells us: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your
mind, and with all your strength.’ ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater
than these. Loving your neighbor is faith in action. I was once asked “what does that mean to love your neighbor” and I
responded with this question: “what does it mean to love your children? Love your neighbor the same way.”
It is our job to make a difference; it is up to us to take action and to help others take action when we can. For example:
Donate food - clothing - time - money. Show love – compassion – dignity – respect. Reach out!

the work on the restoration of the picnic tables at the KC
