ICCA Ranking: SA still holds the number 1 position in Africa.

5 of our cities are ranked in the top 10 on the continent and more than a third of all association meetings are

hosted on the continent.

Cape Town is ranked number 1 followed by Johannesburg ranked 3rd with Durban in the 4th place,

Stellenbosch ranked 7th.

Johannesburg doubled the number of association meetings it hosted in 2012.

• Thinking out of the box in terms of allowing structures/displays outside our

normal parameters – e.g. Maude Street Orchid display.

• Extending event into Sandton City and Nelson Mandela square.

• Developing destination ownership ethos among the business owners in

Sandton.

• Promoting alternative venues as part of bid – Joburg central/Soweto.

• Positioning Sandton as the catalyst and not the island.
