Please encourage your child to go to bed early

and to eat a good breakfast. I need them to be alert and ready to

School and Classroom Policies

School uniforms are mandatory.

Homework is given out everyday including weekends.

Homework should be signed.

Tests, handouts, and notices should be signed and returned the following day.

Your child should read every night and record books on Reading log.

Promotional CriteriaStudents must perform at or above

Proficiency Level 2 on the English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics assessments.

If a child does not achieve Proficiency Level 2, the teacher must prepare a portfolio of writing samples, class-work, homework teacher observations, reading level from classroom libraries and other relevant information regarding the student’s performance. This portfolio will then be reviewed by the classroom teacher and the principal. If the portfolio demonstrates that the student is performing at the necessary level the student will be promoted.

Students who are not promoted in June can re-take the ELA and Math assessments in August. Students who achieve Proficiency Level 2 in August will be promoted in September. The same portfolio review process described above is done for students who do not achieve the necessary scores in August.
