Discussions about insect lifecycles and predator-prey relationships with visual aids and live insect demonstrations make the principles of biocontrol easy to understand for both lay and technical audiences.
Kyra is a California certified Technical Service Provider and manag-er of Rincon-Vitova Insectaries, Inc. that produces and markets sup-plies for biological pest control. She has been learning about organic methods of farming and gar-dening for 9 years.
After earning a BA in Biology at Purdue University, Kyra moved to Ventura to take an entomology internship at Rincon-Vitova Insectaries. She has thoroughly enjoyed learning about California’s vast agricultural diversity, and has a great interest in spreading Rincon-Vitova’s mission of sustainability throughout the community, especially to children and younger generations.
Kyra is a member of the Association of Applied IPM Ecologists (AAIE), and is a certified Technical Service Provider on behalf of the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).

President’s Message and...
Dear Members,
Happy Belated Easter to everyone. We had a good turn out for the Green House and Garden Tour at Armando's. He also sold some of his beautiful plants at amazingly low prices. If you missed this tour, be watching for future ones. Any-one wanting us to visit you and see your plants, let me know.
I hope everyone is grooming their plants for the big Spring Orchid Sale on Satur-day, May 6 from 9 am to 2 pm at the Dudley House. This is the Orchid Society's major fund raiser, so we need all of you to try and participate. If your plants are not in bloom, hopefully you have a picture of the plant or know the color. We all like to know what we are getting.
