Making Your Child’s Options Choices OnlineThis document will guide you through the stepsneeded to make your child’s Options Choices online.

Options will be open from Wednesday 1st April toWednesday 8th April inclusive.

Making Your Child’s Options Choices OnlinePlease look through this document before you start – there is alist of Frequently Asked Questions at the end to resolve someof the common issues that parents and carers mightexperience.

We would like to reassure you that we are here to support you, should you experience any other difficulty. Please call the school during business hours or email Miss Walker, Deputy Headteacher (v.walker@stjohnfisher.school), if you need further help.

Step 1: Access your child’s email account to register for Options Online

Go to www.outlook.com

Click ‘Sign in’

Step 2: Open your child’s email account

You will see screens asking for email and password.

Your child’s email is their username followed by @student.stjohnfisher.school (e.g. username@student.stjohnfisher.school)

Their password is the same password they use to log on at school.

Step 3: Open the email from ‘noreply@sims.co.uk’

The sender is ‘Noreply@sims.co.uk’

There will not be a subject line

The first line of text will say ‘Hi <name>, simply accept this invitation’

Step 4: Accept the invitation

Having opened the email, click

‘Accept Invitation’

Step 5: Register the account for SIMS

Clicking the email will

take you to this page.

Click ‘sign in with

Microsoft’.

Step 6: Register the account for SIMS

Next you will see this

page.

Click ‘Accept’.

Step 7: Register the account for SIMS

Next, you will see a screen like this. The three boxes

should automatically fill with your child’s details and invitation

code.

Click ‘Register’.

Step 8: Register the account for SIMS

You will be asked to

provide your child’s date of birth to

confirm their

identity.

Enter this and click ‘Verify’

The main Options Choices

screen will appear.

Step 11: Choose ONE subject as a first choice and ONE subject as a reserve from Group A

Click the title of the subject you

want as your first choice (it will turn

blue)

Click the ‘reserve’ next to the

subject you want as your back-up

choice (it will turn orange)

If you change your mind or have selected the wrong subject, click in the same places and the colours will disappear.

Step 12: Choose TWO subjects as a first choice and TWO subjects as reserves from Group B

Scroll down the page.

Click the title of the twosubjects you want as your first two choices (they will turn blue)

Click the ‘reserve’ next to the two subjects you want as your back-up

choices

If you change your mind or have selected the wrong subject, click in the same places and the colours will disappear.

Step 13: Check that your Group B choices appear in the right order of preference

On the right hand side of the page, your choices are

shown in order of preference.

You can click and move the subjects so that the main choice and reserve

choice you prefer are first on the list.

Step 14: Confirm parent / carer approval

Scroll down and tick the relevant box to confirm you have approved your child’s Options choices.

Step 15: Save your child’s Options choices

Click ‘save’ in the top left hand corner when you have finished making your choices

Step 16: Process complete!

A green box will appear telling you that the choices have been saved. You can now click the drop-down arrow in the top right hand

corner and log out.

Frequently asked questions• When will Options open and close? The Options website will be open for

you to make these choices as soon as you receive this guide. It will close on Weds 8th April at midnight. You can make your child’s choices at any time during this window.

• Where can I find information about the subjects? You can find the Options booklet online at https://stjohnfisher.school/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/KS4-Curriculum-Booklet-2018-to-2019-V418-jan-19.pdf

• What if my child can’t remember their email address or password? Please call the school and we will assist you, or email v.walker@stjohnfisher.schoolfor out-of-hours queries.

• What if I miss the deadline? Anyone who misses the deadline will be contacted by the school by phone after Tuesday 14th April.

• What if my child changes their mind? You can log in and change their Options choices as many times as you like while the Options window is open. Once the window is closed, you will need to contact Mrs. Bennett, l.bennett@stjohnfisher.school, to discuss this. If your child changes their mind after the deadline, we will be less likely to accommodate their first preferences.
