Why Network?

• Pleasure – You will meet a lot of great people• Pride – Branding yourself & helping others• Profit $$$$$$• Protection- pool of prospects: sales, job or

clients. Knowledge and the ability to find it.• Important note: it is called netWORK. Don’t

forget the work. 15 min 6 days a week forever is the very minimum to be successful.

Invest Time and Effort

The networking effort is not much harder than a bird flying, but just as the bird must flap its wings and monitor the air currents you must log and monitor the activity on your account.

How to Network

• Meet people and help them is the basic pattern.

• Later, after you have been helping people in your network leads, tips and new connections will come your way.

• It takes time and is similar to planting and maintaining a garden--time and effort

heat & AC)• Not real time• Can lack depth• Fits introverts but can be draining for extroverts.• Does not fit some situations

• Only join ones you will visit weekly. Focus your energy.

How do you decide?• Who, What, Where, Why, How• Who do you want to meet? Linkedin focuses on

professionals.• What do you want to do? Linkedin is business

focused.• Why are you signed up? Music? Games? Not on

LI, but education, business, marketing, jobs are all on LI

• How do you interact with others? For me the features of Linkedin appeal to me more than Facebook.

as an expert, showcase achievements• Profit: Leads for sales, promotions, new projects,

professional opportunities• Protection: Building a network, like digging a well

before you need the water, helps you get through rough times. You can turn to the network for job leads, sales, ideas

• PERSONAL BRANDING! Provides pleasure, pride, profit and protection.
