Is lecture capture the future for our

teaching

?

What is lecture capture?

It is simply the process of recording a lecture or workshop and making it available at a later stage to your students. This could be a video or

audio recording.

Why do we seem to be bothered about

it now?Technology has progressed to a level that now makes it possible for us all to adopt it in our everyday teaching.

It has caused concern in the past that lecture capture will replace

conventional teaching. However, this not the intended purpose of my

research but rather to explore the possibility of using it as a

supplementary teaching resource to enhance the learning of our students.

So the big question is:

why would we want to have lessons recorded?

Or should the question be why wouldn't we?

Is a new model really needed?
