Using the Academic Search database from

Off-Campus

Lakeland

Begin at the Library homepage:http://library.lakelandcc.edu

From off-campus you must login to be recognized as a Lakeland student. ClickOff-Campus OhioLINK Log On

Institution Selection Form: Select Lakeland from the list of Institutions and Click “submit”

Type your First Name then Last Name and Lakeland ID number and click “submit”

You will be directed to this screen:

Click on the “A” under “Listed By Name.” (“A” for Academic Search Database)

Then click on “Academic Search Complete”

Academic Search is an Ebsco Database, this is the initial screen from off-campus. It is the simple search screen

To access the advanced search screen – click “Advanced Search”

The advanced search screens provides more options

By using the features of the advanced search screen you can focus your search for better results

For example, use multiple search terms and limit your search to full-text and scholarly

Search Results: note formats of materials

Formats PDF – Portable Document Format. This is

essentially a scan of the original. It will include diagrams, images and special formatting

HTML – Text typed out with no special formatting

Find it Is a tool for locating an article in a alternate database or format (such as a library’s print collection)

As you look through the search results you may add items to the ‘folder’ to save the best to look through again
