NEWS & NOTICES
SUMMER 2016
May 12th 2016
The Art Department have been asked to paint a jigsaw piece as part of the Epsom and Ewell Art Festival.
The theme of the jigsaw is ‘Our Town’. Charlie Holroyd ( Year 6 ) and Jack Fernandes (Year 7) have set to work on the challenge. They came up with taking the Epsom Race Course idea and adding a little twist, suggesting the race horses might be fed up with racing and would rather stop and have a cup of tea with everyone else!
We think that they have done rather well!
The work will be displayed in the Ebbisham Centre form the 24th—26th June.
Epsom and Ewell Art Festival
Year 3 Trip to R.A.F Hendon
Year 3 had an exciting and informative day at
the RAF museum. The boys were thrilled to see
examples of the places that were flown in the
Battle of Britain. They also attended a Blitz
workshop, where they went back in time,
made gas mask boxes and were issued with
identity cards. They met an ARP warden who
explained about the rules introduced to keep
civilians safe during the Blitz. The session was
interrupted when an air raid siren sounded and
the boys had to go to the Anderson Shelter.
Year 5 Trip to The Water Treatment Centre at Bough Beech Reservoir
The Year 5 boys were lucky enough to visit the Water Treatment
Centre at Bough Beech Reservoir. The facility is very impressive and
not open to the general public, so it was very exciting to have access to
the works. The boys were given a tour of the site and even walked in a
long tunnel underneath the reservoir. They were even given a glass of
sparkling, freshly cleaned water. The experience enhanced the topic of
water that they have been studying this term, and the boys now
understand what a precious resource water is.
House Music Competition 2016
What a wonderful day of music making we had on Tuesday! From flute to double bass, classical guitar to
rock drumming, trumpet to ukulele and everything in between: all the performers did themselves and
their House proud. Our judge, Mrs Jan Smith, was most impressed with the standard and had a very
difficult task in selecting the winners.
We had 67 entries in the competition and the category winners were:-
