The library is no longer only a place to get books, but a place to access information on the computer.

THE LIBRARIAN AS THE INFORMATION SPECIALIST

Times have changed in the last few decades. Librarians are now expected to be the information specialists of the school.

LIBRARIAN-TEACHER COLLABORATION

Librarians need to provide training and collaborate with the teachers in their school.

Smart Boards are a great way of incorporating technology into a lesson. Librarians need to provide training to the campus staff to ensure all are capable of using the white interactive boards.

Podcasts are also a tool being used in the 21st century classroom. Students are able to use this audio medium as a tool for presentation as well as to access information.

Glogsters are a fun alternative to making a poster for a project. Instead of using poster board, students can use the computer to create a poster online.

Wikis are making it easier to collaborate for group projects. Everything can be

posted in one place with access given to the whole group.

BLOGS ARE THE JOURNALS OF THE FUTURE

These are only a few of the many ways that the library media program can help train students and teachers on technology that can be both interactive and engaging and prepare our students for the 21st century.
