Status of road and rail infrastructure in the Polish – Slovak border area
• Increase of the residents’ quality of life;
• Strengthening cooperation of the regions: Małopolska, Silesia, Žilina, Prešov, as well as the „Tatra” Euroregion - development of transport infrastructure;
• Increase of economic/trade activities
• ….
Winter Olympic Games 2022
Better infrastructure connections are needed
ConcClusions
1. There is still a lot to do on the Polish – Slovakia border
2. Visible improved: after the completion of construction of the road infrastructure and modernization of the railway infrastructure, which is part of the TEN-T core network corridor "Baltic – Adriatic”.
3. Opening the freight road traffic, as well as upgrading the rail route in the cross-border section: Bielsko Biała – Zwardoń – Skalite - Žilina would allow:
• to remove an existing bottleneck, • to reduce time and cost of transport between Poland and Slovakia,• to expand the transit possibilities in the North – South axis with wider share of the
Polish seaports.
Conclusions
Thank you for attention
