ferroPLast mute Presentation
Plásticos Ferro manufactures and markets systems which offer integral solutions to meet any type of need regarding conduits and channelling, considering plastics its fundamental material and, through constant innovation and development, searching for the complete satisfaction of its clients with products and services which respond to their needs.
The company’s quality policy is based on the commitment to continuous improvement and the preservation of the environment, involving all its personnel and guaranteeing respect towards the environment in which its activities are developed.
Plásticos Ferro is wholeheartedly committed to soundproofing inside buildings, since downpipes are currently one of the critical sources of noise in housing. This acoustic problem has, in fact, become one of the main complaints voiced by users. Noise in downpipes is caused by both the friction of fluids on the internal walls in vertical and horizontal sections, and the impact of these fluids on pipe bends and junctions which the downpipes form with changes in direction and connections to the main downpipe. This friction becomes evident as an airborne noise and a vibration.
The most effective manner of avoiding these types of noises in installations is to act directly upon them, preventing them, thus, from
affecting the structure of the building, since once this occurs it is extremely difficult to reduce the impact of the noise.
The constant evolution in the quality of the materials used in building and housing construction has allowed for to the optimisation of their levels of soundproofing. With the aim of contributing to this improvement, Plásticos Ferro offers its new in-house manufactured range, an optimum quality, value-added soundproofed waste system.

Plásticos Ferro has developed a new waste system that is capable of resolving all the demands made of it. Ferroplast mute is a new soundproofed waste system which carries wastewater and rainwater to the exterior without giving rise to problems such as noise, humidity or foul odours. Ferroplast mute offers the highest fire-resistance classification for plastic materials.

The legislation currently in force, with regard to noise, is based on the following documents:
] Royal Decree 1367/2007, 19th October, which develops the Law on Noise 37/2003, with regard to acoustic zoning, quality objectives and acoustic emissions.
] Royal Decree 1371/2007, 19th October, approving the “DB-HR Noise Protection” basic document from the Technical Building Code and modifying Royal Decree 314/2006, 17th March, by means of which the Technical Building Code is passed.

Article 14. Basic noise protection requirements (HR)
The aim of the “noise protection basic requirement” is to limit, inside buildings and under normal conditions of use, the risk of problems or illnesses that noise may cause to users as a consequence of the characteristics of the planning, construction, use and maintenance.
In order to comply with this aim, buildings shall be planned, built and maintained in such a way that those constructive elements which comprise their premises must have suitable acoustic characteristics for reducing airborne noise, noise from impacts and the noise and vibrations from installations themselves in the building, and to limit the noise reverberating therein.
The “DB HR Noise Protection” basic document specifies objective parameters and verification systems which, if complied with, ensure that the basic requirements will be met and the minimum levels of quality stipulated in the basic noise protection requirements will be exceeded.

] When piping is passed through the building materials anti-vibration systems must be used, such as airtight elastic sleeves, mouldings, airtight bushings, clamps and elastic supports.
] Collective piping is secured using construction materials with a mass per surface unit in excess of 150 kg/m2.
] In installations, elastic elements and anti-vibration systems must be used in securing or contact points between those installations which give rise to vibrations and the construction materials.

Ferroplast mute has been designed and manufactured to provide a high level of safety in case of fire. Ferroplast mute, by opting for PVC, increases its fire resistance.
Fire-resistance parameters: ] Flammability: The ease with which a test sample can be lit. PVC has a very limited contribution to fire (B).
] Spread of the fire: The speed with which the fire spreads once started. PVC does not propagate fire.
] Thermal diffusion: Heat energy emitted during combustion. The smoke production and emission speed for PVC is low.
] Opacity of smoke: This is vital in the initial phase, to avoid hindering escape. The smoke production and emission speed for PVC is low.
] Droplets: PVC does not produce flaming droplets.

Article 11. Basic safety requirements in case of fire (SI)
The aim of the “Fire Safety” basic requirement is to reduce the risk of users in a building suffering damage from an accidental fire as a consequence of characteristics of the planning, construction, use and maintenance to acceptable limits.
In order to comply with this aim, buildings shall be planned, built, maintained and used in such a way that, in the case of a fire, the basic requirements established in the following sections are complied with.
The DB-SI Basic Document specifies objective parameters and procedures which, if complied with, ensure that the basic requirements and the minimum levels of quality characteristic of the basic safety requirements in the case of fire are met, except in the case of buildings, establishments and areas for industrial use, to which the “Regulations for fire safety in industrial establishments” are applicable, and where the basic requirements are complied with by the application thereof.

Instructions from the Basic Document:] There must be hydraulic valves in the installation to prevent the air contained therein from passing to the occupied areas, without affecting the flow of waste.
] The network of pipes must be designed in such a way that they are accessible for maintenance and repair, due to this fact they must be laid out in plain view or housed in holes or ducts which can be inspected. Otherwise they must be fitted with manholes or inspection hatches.
] They must be fitted with suitable ventilation systems which permit the use of hydraulic valves and the removal of noxious gases.
] The installation must not be used for the drainage of any type of waste other than wastewater and rainwater.

Article 13. Health safety basic requirements (HS)
The objective of the “Hygiene, health and environmental protection” basic requirement, referred to hereinafter as Health Safety, consists of reducing as far as possible the risk of users, within buildings and in normal conditions of use, suffering from problems and illnesses, as well as the risk of buildings deteriorating and damaging the environment in their immediate setting, as a consequence of the characteristics of their planning, construction, use and maintenance.
In order to comply with this aim, buildings shall be planned, built, maintained and used in such a way that, in the case of a fire, the basic requirements established in the following sections are complied with.
The “DB HR Health Safety” basic document specifies objective parameters and procedures which, if complied with, ensure that the basic requirements will be met and the minimum levels of quality characteristic of the basic health safety requirements will be exceeded.
