Part Lesson 4 – Slab on Ground

IDENTIFY AND PRODUCE ESTIMATED COSTS FOR PROJECTS

N. PRESTON, M. MARTIN CERT IV ESTIMATING 2012

WORKED EXAMPLE – FROM P 82 SECTION 2 IN TEXT

• Measure and extend in accordance with the ASMMBW Edition 5

• Specification Notes

• • All concrete work to be 2OMPa

• • I 0mm Diameter bar: 0.616 kg/m

• • All stirrups to have 100mm hook end allowance to each end

• • Allow one layers of F82 fabric to ground slab and one layer of4F 12TM trench mesh to edge beams

• • Allow `Z' bar of 400mm long, 200mm and 300rnm cog ends at 500mm centres to all perimeter edge beams only

• • Allow 50mm concrete cover to all reinforcement

• • Allow steel trowel finish to all concrete surface

• • All formwork to be Class 4

FIRST LETS CLARIFY NO. ‘S

• 10.000m

• 4.400m

• 500mm / 120mm

• 200mm

• 400mm / 200mm

• 200mm / 400mm / 200mm

• 200mm / 400mm

WHAT WILL DIFFER TO THE TEXT

• The descriptions will be the same

• But some working out will be different

• So I suggest you make a new copy on a new P10

• Then insert it into your text as a sample

• Also note, my items will all appear up the top of the page, YOU will continue yours as you now know, from page to page

FIRST ADDRESS BEAM SIZE

• We assume the angle here is 45°

• Therefore the 200 width will equal the 200 height

• Therefore for ease of calculation, we use ½ this width and extend the base size to create a rectangle

• Making it now 500mm wide for future calc’s

• Similarly the central beam applies to both sides making it 600mm wide

New beam width
