how to take a good photo (and what i will have to consider)

HOW TO TAKE A GOOD PHOTO(AND WHAT I WILL HAVE TO CONSIDER.)

PLAN YOUR SHOTS BEFOREHAND• Planning your shots beforehand, will give you a clear idea

in your mind about what you really want to take images of. • Planning everything helps. The things that you should

include in your plan when taking pictures of people (in my case for a music magazine) should include:

• Costumes/props/makeup • Setting/location• Poses/body posture/facial expressions• Equipment needed

HOW TO USE A CAMERA• You need to set the camera to manual so that you

can control the aperture and shutter speed.

• The aperture and shutter speed should meet at zero in the middle on the dial.

• Make sure that all lighting is right so your image isn't under exposed or over exposed. You may need to use lighting equipment.

COMPOSITION• Composing images means putting things in place and

thinking about the way they look so that it shows you have intent.

• Sometimes, composition is used to attract the audiences attention, it needs to be pleasing to the eye and get them thinking about the intentions that the photograph had in mind when he/she was taking that particular photograph.

• The rule of thirds, focal point, angles and leading eye are some of many things that photographers consider when taking photographs. They need to be pleasing to the eye.

EDITING YOUR PHOTOS• The most common programme used to edit photographs

is Photoshop. • The first thing you should do is check that your image has

good composition, if it doesn’t, you could use the cropping tool to crop any unwanted background.

• Don’t over edit any of your images because you still want them to look ‘real’ rather than being ‘fake’.

• Editing can be used to enhance any specific colour that you want to bring out more. Or maybe adding something extra to your image.

WHAT I WILL HAVE TO CONSIDER The things that I will have to consider when I come to take my shots are what I am actually going to take photographs of. I will need to thoroughly plan them out for my front cover, contents page and double page spread so that I have that clear image in my mind and I know exactly what I am doing. Before I start taking the photographs, I will need to set everything up such as the costumes, make up and settings/locations to ensure that they go with my music magazine genre.
