company versus take a job elsewhere
Additionally, 36 percent of top performers say their employer's situation has worsened in the past 12 months The number who would recommend others take jobs at their

Employee Engagement Is Low and Falling
Page 5
There is a ‘Trust Deficit’ in the American workplace
Only 11 percent of employees "strongly agree" their managers show consistency between their words and actions
Just 7 percent strongly trust senior leaders -- or their co-workers -- to look out for their best interest.

Engagement Challenges for Leadership
Page 6
The No. 1 trait desired in senior leadership -- selected by the 20,000 respondents in the United States and abroad -- was trustworthiness
Companies that are consistently tops in their industry sector for profitability and return-on-investment almost always have high levels of engaged employees
However, when asked whether they agree that their companies' leaders are trustworthy, only 12 percent of American respondents -- and 14 percent of global respondents – agreed with the statement.
