Have you ever heard of the River Rakitnica

Canyon?

Meet Ice, a 3 year old

Husky mix…She was

thrown into that river as a puppy with

3 others

Luckily, there was a woman passing by that heard the dogs barking and

immediately called for help…

Since they were thrown into a canyon, a mountain rescue team needed to be called to

reach them

After Ice was abandoned in the river, the woman who rescued her, Nina, kept Ice in her home for the last several years since the day

she was rescued

Their transport coordinator, Katie, met Nina after being deployed to

Bosnia, which is where she met Ice and Blue

Meet Blue…He is also a 3 year old Husky mix

Blue was living in the streets of Ilidza, Bosnia and was being

fed by a local rescue…As the shelter was

getting full, they moved Blue to a different

shelter

Despite her hardships, Ice

gets along with others, likes to be in charge of

her own life, and

appreciates the occasional

bath, cuddles and playtime!

Blue is just like Ice, but

is a little more

cautious

Blue and Ice had the chance to come back to the United

States with a dedicated team behind them

The timing for these two was meant to be

One person was flying back to Boston from Sarajevo and offered to take Blue and Ice back to the United States with

her

When they arrived in the U.S., the rush was on to find fosters or

adopting families around Boston

Turning to Doobert, the transport was created with a few days to spare…

Just in time, they found a volunteer to pick them

up at the airport, and also found enough

drivers to take them from Boston to their

foster home in Virginia

Blue and Ice would not be getting the life they deserve

without the help of The Tanzie Project

The Tanzie project was started by Katie after she was in Bosnia and fell in love with and adopted

her own street dog while she was there, named Tanzie.

She could not forget about these dogs after returning home, so The

Tanzie Project was started.

Traveling over 700 miles, they made it to their new foster and even took a trip

to PetSmart!

Ice and Blue are beautiful, sweet, loving dogs, who were lucky

enough to be rescued and given a chance at a good life with a forever

family

Blue and Ice are still looking for their forever homes and a

loving family

Join the 12,000+ volunteers and help loving and

deserving animals find their forever homes
