Greek Gods and Goddess

All Greek gods and goddess are immortal. They also have all kinds of powers.

The Greeks believed in many gods this was called polytheism. One god named Zeus was the king of all the gods.

Another goddess was Hera. She was queen of all the gods and goddess. She was also in charge of women, marriage, and childbirth.

Hades was the god of the underworld.

Demeter is the goddess of harvest and fertility.

Poseidon is the god of the sea. He is in lots of Greek stories. He has a temple in Athens.

Gaia is the mother earth.

Hestia is the goddess of the hearth or the home fire.

Athena is the god of wisdom and battle strategies. She is the patron god of Athens.

Ares is the god of war but, not battle strategies.

Aphrodite is the goddess love and beauty. She married the god Hephaestus but, was in love with the war god Ares.

Apollo is the god of music, poetry, and healing. He is the twin brother of the goddess Artemis.

Artemis is the goddess of hunting, wildlife, and chastity.

Hermes is the messenger of the gods. He is the god of merchants, thieves, luck, and messengers.

Hephaestus is the god of fire and blacksmiths.

Dionysus is the god of wine and vegetation.
