Goa: An Introduction

Goa is the smallest state in the Republic of India. Synonymous with tourism in India, Goa remains as one of

the most visited destination of India. Goa is blessed in terms of topographical beauty as it has the vast Arabian

Sea on its west.

History

Goa is one of the Indian states that remained under

colonial rule for a period of over 451 years. It was in 1962 that Goa attained complete freedom from the Portuguese and in 1987 it was pronounced as

an independent state of India.

Tourism

Goa by far is among the most frequented tourist destination in India. Considered as the hottest tourist

destination in the country, this state witnesses huge influx of travelers from India as well as abroad.

Goa Beaches

Goa has a very long coastline with huge number of beaches. A trip to Goa without a visit to its sandy coastlines is just

The market that is held on every Wednesday of the week is a major tourist attraction. The stalls out there have a wide

the Portuguese in the form of imposing churches and cathedrals.

Wildlife Sanctuaries

Goa is not just about beaches and churches, but also for its wildlife. The state’s location along the mountainous

Western Ghats is home to an array of birds and animals. Here are the names of famous national parks in Goa:
