Why?Why?

Children and families know what information will be collected by whom and how.

They can more readily participate in information gathering and analysis.

It will be easier to Share information when this is necessary and more difficult to share it when it is not.

It will reduce bureaucracy and duplication.

Children, parents, professionals, agencies and the Scottish Executive will be able to monitor progress.

Young Person:

“You would have to be told who will be told”

“It would be better if you could write it down so you don’t keep having to tell people the same things all the time”

Any child, young person, family or professional who thinks a structured approach is needed to identify needs and risks and plan to meet them.

Takes account of:

Children and young people’s everyday concerns.

Children with more serious or complex problems

Disability

At risk of abuse or neglect

Offending and causing harm to others.
