Community Hall AGM Thursday 18th July 8:00pm.
To develop further the use of the hall for the community, new faces and ideas are needed. Do consider becoming a trustee. It is NOT a big time commitment with meetings being only bimonthly and they are held in the pub! If interested please send me a text (07850 746776) or just turn up at the AGM. Pete Silveston, Trustee, Marwood Community Hall.
Hi everyone, about time I gave you all an update on 1st Marwood Scouts; Welcome to Nick Jupp, Nick is our new Group Scout Leader, he’s been in Scouting since he was 8 so has a wealth of knowledge and experience to bring to our group.
Beaver section is now full (24) with 11 on the waiting to join list. Beavers are lead by Rachel supported by Natasha & Paul, so far a very busy year with a Damboree (Beavers in tents) Camp to come in July. Cub section is now at 21 (max 32) which I am running supported by Shannon and 2 new helpers Luke & Ashleigh. However, we do need a new Cub Scout Leader to take the Cub section forwards. This support would really help to develop the sixes to their full potential, as we have several camps already completed, with more competitions, activities and events to follow this year. Scout section meets monthly for a ½ or full day activity, e.g. a 30 mile cycle or hike. I run this section and focus on Duke of Edinburgh training and activities to help the scouts get from the Bronze Award that some will start at school in year 9, up to Gold by the time they leave school or college. In doing so, they could also work towards their Queens Scout Award.
PARENTS & SUPPORTERS BOTH PHYSICAL AND FINANCIAL Let me take this opportunity to thank you all once again for your continued support, you enable the young people to take part in fun, challenging, exciting activities. As a team they are making and working with old & new friends that they will remember for the rest of their lives. THANK YOU!! To all Marwood readers we use Easyfundraising to generate much needed funds for 1st Marwood Scouts, it’s a simple sign up here; https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/invite/ZPHAGD/ Contact me if you want to join or can help us! Alan (Bugsy) Cruden, Scout Leader, 1st Marwood Scouts: acruden7@gmail.com / 01271850592
