TRUTHCurrently health and safety is a quasi-profession, with no title or scope of practice protection under law.

MYTHHealth and safety providers do not cause the injuries. Employer’s often don’t listen and workers make bad choices, so why are we being ‘punished’.

TRUTHEmployers rely on and base important decisions on, our advice. This is about ensuring competency and ethical practice, as well as maintaining public confidence in the profession.

Roadmap PaperDescribes in detail the path to true professional regulation under law.

The Mission of the ASHSP is1. To serve the public interest by establishing the occupational health and

safety (OHS) professions operating in Alberta as fully-recognized professions protected and regulated by law.

2. To work with stakeholders to create the foundation for competent and ethical practice within Alberta.

3. To establish a self-regulatory body within Alberta to provide regulatory oversight for the OHS professions.
