SCIENCE-THIRD PRIMARY YEAR CEIP CORTES DE ARAGÓN

(Teacher: Miguel Navarro)

We need to have a balanced diet, so we need to eat the right amounts of the different food groups (carbohydrates and fibre, fruit and vegetables, proteins and iron, dairy products and fats)

Carbohydrates give us lots of energy. Fibre helps our digestion. Examples: pasta, rice, cereals and

potatoes.

They contain vitamins, minerals and fibre.

We need them to keep us healthy, to grow and to protect us from illness.

They make us strong because thanks to them we build muscle.

Examples: meat, fish, beans, pulses or eggs.

Dairy products are made from milk. They are rich in calcium, which keeps

our bones and teeth healthy. Examples: milk, yoghurt, cheese.

They help our brain and nervous system.

Some fats are better than others. We need to include some good fats in

our diet. Examples: olive oil, salmon and nuts.

We must eat three main meals everyday: BREAKFAST, LUNCH AND DINNER.

It´s a good idea to have two healthy SNACKS. They give us energy between meals.

A SNACK is something you eat between meals.

A list of healthy snacks: fruit, ham, carrots or yoghurt.

Our body is about 75% water. You need to drink 1,5 litres of water

every day (6 glasses of water).
