Food ‘n’ Fun Rally, July 15, 2006

Our Food ’’n’ Fun Rally was a fun way to get to a great dinner. The Four Winds Steakhouse is on a large ranch in Wills Point, Texas, about 45 miles east of Dallas. Each participant received a poker card at the start of the trip, at three stops along the way, and at Four Winds. We met at a Starbucks at Grand Prairie, a central location so members throughout the Fort Worth/Dallas Metroplex could more easily join us. Our route took us southeast of the Metropolitan area, passing through small towns and roads which we would not otherwise think of visiting. Our poker card stops included two country clubs in the mid-dle of nowhere. Poker cards were drawn at each of the stops. Three hours and 110 miles after we

began, we arrived at our destination. At the Four Winds, the views out the huge windows are of ponds, trees, and gently rolling hills. The ambiance is upscale rustic. The food was wonderful. Executive Chef Frank Rumore served just about the best steak dinner one could have. We dined on a choice of Filet Mignon, Strip, Ribeye or Salmon, capped by New Orleans style bread pudding for dessert. While having dessert, the winners of the poker run were an-nounced. They are: Best Hand - DJ de Jesus, 2nd - Sasha Lanz, 3rd - Justin Knoop, and Worst Hand - Rich Trantham.
