INSTRUMENTAL SECTION July 7th–July 12th 2017
VENUE: “Merivale Lane Theatre” Rangi Ruru Girls School, Merivale Lane. Christchurch
CONVENER: Virginia Rennie 0272 485 400
ADJUDICATOR: Miss Lisa Chou. MA.,M.Mus.,(Hons) Piano. Cello ATCL
Born in Taiwan, Lisa immigrated with her
family to Auckland in 1995. With the
guidance of Rae de Lisle, Lisa completed
Masters in Piano Performance with First
Class Honours at the University of
Auckland before moving to Vienna in 2009,
where she lived, studied and worked for six
years.
Piano and cello teachers in New Zealand have included Rae de Lisle, Qu Yong, Carol Bognuda and Ashley Brown. Private lessons were with Paul Badura-Skoda in Vienna during 2009-2010. Lisa has received numerous prizes and scholarships as a solo pianist, cellist and chamber musician, notably the Kerikeri International Piano Competition and NZCT Chamber Music Contest National Finals as cellist in the winning quartet. In Vienna, Lisa has also developed a special interest in Lieder and as an Art-Song collaborative artist; she was awarded the Tsuzuki-Stiftung Scholarship
and was invited to 'The Schubert Lieder Project'2014 in Oxford. 2016 was an exciting year where Lisa taught piano privately at Napier Girls High School and as pianist for the charitable trust Prima Volta Project in Hawkes Bay. This year Lisa teaches privately at her studio in Greenlane, as well as piano at Takapuna Grammar and cello at Kings School. Lisa is at present based in Dairy Flat, Auckland, with four adorable Alpacas.
