“Fenwick nurtures student voice and encourages students to speak from the heart. We expand their understanding of the world and foster their unique talents through reading, speaking and writing.”
Ms. Mary Marcotte, English Teacher
You can have the President as your Theology
teacher! All of our administrators teach one
class and each teacher serves as a club moderator
or coach—so they get to know their students
beyond the classroom. We have three Golden Apple
winners and SIX Heart of the School Winners.
“Fenwick is very unique because of its teachers. They truly care about the students and challenge us to reach our true potential. Fenwick faculty go out of their way to make freshmen feel welcome and they are there for us whenever we need them.”
Angela Escanilla, Class of 2011 (Cicero)
Over
of our faculty members hold advanced degrees including three Ph.D’s.

Over the last three years our college scholarship awards averaged more than
$25 million Students matriculated to Northwestern, University of Illinois, Marquette University, Boston University, Ivy League schools and the University of Notre Dame. More importantly, students were placed at the college that was the best fit for them.
“With thousands of colleges and universities that are excellent options for our students, admissions to college has become more competitive and sophisticated. Fenwick students gain admission to some of the most prestigious and highly ranked schools, however, we are more pleased that our students are finding and selecting the schools that best complement their own abilities and talents.”
Mr. Richard Borsch, Co-Principal; Director of Student Services
“We are a very good prep school and I feel prepared for college. My counselors have done a great job of helping me identify schools and focus my search. I am excited to be attending Purdue in the Fall and am confident that it was the right choice for me.”
Sarah Rudek, Class of 2009 (Riverside)

“Fenwick athletics has a strong history and tradition with an Olympic Diver, a Heisman Trophy winner and NBA player among our alumni. With 10 state championships in the past 5 years, several state final four appearances and numerous conference titles, the Fenwick athletic program is the perfect match for students who expect to excel both in the classroom and on the playing field.”
Mr. Michael Curtin, Athletic Director
We pride ourselves on our athletes’ competitive balance of excellence on the field and in the classroom.
“There’s always a team that wins the state championship each year whether it be the water polo team or another sport and not many schools can say that. Fenwick’s competitive edge is what sets it apart from other schools.”
Jen Concepcion, Class of 2011 (Rogers Park)
More than
of Fenwick students participate in one of our 30 athletic teams.

We encourage students to get involved in one or more of our
different clubs and extracurricular activities.
For the large majority of our students, the Fenwick day does not end with the last class bell. We believe it is important for our students to be well-rounded and involved individuals.
“I love that Fenwick recognizes and celebrates differences and makes everyone feel important. Whether you’re the mathematician, the artist or musician, or the all-star basketball player, everyone has a chance to shine.”
Elizabeth Lombard, Class of 2011 (Western Springs)

“What makes Fenwick different from other schools is its tradition. Fenwick education stays true to its Dominican roots while allowing students to seek new heights with an open mind. Since I came to Fenwick, I learned more about strengthening my faith as well as exploring the natural world.”
Jan Clare Concepcion, Class of 2011 (Rogers Park)
“The Dominican Order is founded on the four pillars of Prayer, Study, Service and Community. Our students are given the opportunity to enhance their faith in the world around them through theology courses, school masses, retreats, Kairos and service projects. We are proud of the dedication and commitment to service that our students make.”
Fr. DePorres Durham, O.P., President
TraditionOur Juniors complete a service project—many continue volunteering beyond their 40 hour requirement.
120,000in total they have given over
hours of community Service this year!
Fenwick Class of 2013 Reflects on…
Shadow Day“I thought Fenwick looked very nice when I went there to shadow. I was also impressed with the classes. They were fun, informative and interesting. After I shadowed I knew Fenwick would be a great school.”
Patrick, Roosevelt Middle School
“My shadow day experience is what made me decide Fenwick was right for me. My shadow host answered any questions that I had and was very helpful when showing me each class. I was introduced to all the teachers who were very welcoming.”
Katyana, St. Francis Borgia
“When I attended my shadow day, I was excited. I liked the fact that Fenwick paired me up with a student who shared the same interests. It was a sneak preview of what is to come.”
Antonio, St. Symphorosa School
First Impressions“My first impression of Fenwick was that I can be myself. The school felt like home. This is where I belong and I feel I am a piece of the Fenwick puzzle.”
Jacqueline, St. Daniel of the Prophet
“When I first got to Fenwick, I was feeling overwhelmed compared to my small grammar school, but all of that changed when I started to talk to the students, teachers and alums. They made me feel welcomed and part of the school.”
Matthew, St. Robert Bellarmine
Shadow DayYou may call and schedule a shadow day, 8th graders in the fall and 7th graders in the spring. We will match you with a host with similar interests as you. Don’t worry about lunch—it’s on us! Just call (708) 386-0127 ext. 109 a week in advance of the day you would like to shadow.
Open HouseWe have two open houses in the fall and one more for 6th and 7th graders in the spring. Our program is two hours in length with a presentation in our auditorium, an opportunity to visit various subject presentations and a building tour. You will also get a chance to meet coaches and club moderators.
Entrance ExamOur entrance exam is the second Saturday in January each year. In order to be eligible for Admission to Fenwick, you MUST take the entrance exam at Fenwick.
Choosing Fenwick“I had the opportunity to choose
between Fenwick and my local high school. By choosing Fenwick, I knew that I would be pushed my hardest and challenged constantly, not only academically, but also athletically and spiritually.”
Amelia, Bryan Middle School
“I definitely want to go to college. Everyone I’ve heard from that graduated from Fenwick says they were very well prepared. I think I will be working hard on schoolwork, but it will pay off.”
Katie, St. Luke School
