Roamin’ with Rodney…
Welcome to the worship services of the Leoma church of Christ! If
you are visiting today, we are honored and pleased by your presence.
Clearly things are much different right now and we are trying to be
safe as we worship our God. I am saddened to see our elders have to
deal with this pandemic, but I have respected them through it all and
pray that you will do the same. Our respect and support are due to
them at all times, as instructed in Hebrews 13:17, but perhaps even
more so now.
So, when will this virus be over? When will this election be over?
When will we have a vaccine? How many more will get it? Who else
will die from it? Should we or could we have a Thanksgiving holiday
gathering? Should the elders require masks? Should the elders close in
-person services again for a few weeks? Who is going to school? What
days will I go to school? Should anyone be going to school at all?
Should we still be playing sports? What gatherings or community
events can we have as a church? Where can we have them? Who can
come?
I’m sure that you have more questions and more concerns. Those
are just some I have been hearing and asking of myself. I must admit
with all these circumstances surrounding us, it is easy to lose sight of
the many things we should show our thankfulness for on a daily basis.
I am really disheartened about missing our Thanksgiving “sandwich”
meal together on Wednesday night because I always look forward to
Thanksgiving and just being together to enjoy the fellowship with one
another. We have so much to be thankful for as the Psalmist reminds
us:
Psalm 50:14- “Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving, and per-
form your vows to the Most High,”
Psalm 95:2- “Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;
let us make a joyful noise to Him with songs of praise!”
Psalm 100:4- “Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His
courts with praise! Give thanks to Him; bless His name!”
Psalm 147:7- “Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving; make melody
to our God on the lyre!”
In HIS Service,
Rodney Livingston
