Burnout- Syndrome

What is the burnout syndrome?

Psychological term that refers to long-term exhaustion and diminished interest in work.

Scientifically not accepted as a distinct disorder

ICD-10(international statistical classification of diseases) says it is a problem of “life coping”

Statistics (red:men;yellow:women;grey:total)

Diagnosis

General practitioner needs to exclude all physical causes of the syndrome->leads to considerably examination (e.g.tumor, thyroid gland diseases or chronical infections)

Send to psychologist to figure out a suitable treatment for burnout patient

Boundary between other psychological diseases and burnout is often not possible

Acceptance of burnout syndrome is easier than of depression

Aetiopathology

The early psychosocial consequences are steadily decreasing motivation, creativity, which leads to a lack of concentration of memory.

The last stage of the development is usually described as depressions and suicidal tendencies.

This is a brief conclusion of three phases during development of this syndrome.
