The CLEAN function removes all non-printable characters from a text. It was created to remove the first 32 non-printable characters in the 7bit ASCII code - values 0 to 31. Also, according to Microsoft, additional non-printable characters in the Unicode set - values 127, 129, 141, 143, 144, and 157 cannot be remove with this function.
SYNTAX: CLEAN(text_to_clean)
EXAMPLE:
=CLEAN(A5)=CLEAN(SUBSTITUTE(A5,CHAR(127),””)

The CHAR function takes a number between 1 and 255 specifying the character from the character set used on your computer and translate it into character.
SYNTAX: CHAR(numeric_value_of_the_character)
EXAMPLE:
=CHAR(66) displays the 66 character in the set - B=CHAR(HEX2DEC(41)) displays the 65 character in the set - A=CHAR(67) displays the 67 character in the set - C

The EXACT function compares two string and return TRUE if the two string are exactly the same. This function doesn’t consider formatting but is case sensitive.
SYNTAX: EXACT(text1, text2)
EXAMPLE:
=EXACT(“This is ”,”not the same”) FALSE=EXACT(“NOT THE SAME”,”not the same”) FALSE=EXACT(“THIS IS ok”, “THIS IS ok”) TRUE=EXACT(“this is A”,”this is ” & char(65)) TRUE ~ char(65) is A
