The Schengen area is a sector which guarantees the freedom of movement for people. Countries that have adopted such solutions have

abolished internal border control at the same time establishing the external border zone. This area consists of the territories of European countries

that apply the strict rules of the Schengen regime concerning inter alia, external border protection, data protection, cooperation between the police forces of countries – signatories, issuing visas to

foreigners, as well as the operation of the Schengen Information System.

The Schengen area includes the territory of 25 countries: the 22 Member

States of the European Union, among others, Dutch and Polish, and 3 associated

countries: Iceland, Norway and Switzerland.

Partnership projects are collaboration of two or more schools in different EU countries, which results in primarily

exchanged experiences and learning from each other. The aim is to strengthen the

European dimension in education through the promotion of international

cooperation, involving pupils and educational staff in different Member

States.

Kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools and high-schools can receive grants for various projects. EU

support in this area provide the Regional Operational Programmes.

It is composed of the ministers from each of the Member States and

chaired in turn by all the Member States - each for half a year.
